dear reader,
as i move through this windy city,
i've been singing a parody of Solitary Daughter by Bedouine
singing 'i play with the wind/my only friend'
i've been trying to place how the wind makes me feel
this unavoidable
new
force
to walk with:
it feels like
play fighting
with a best friend
and it occurred to me,
after asking a horticulturist
what his favorite plant was,
that maybe
favorites
are just the best friend
of a certain breed
and i found comfort there
a similar comfort to
grasping the branch of
profound relations are everywhere
so much luck and love to all participating in any way with the Chicago Marathon taking place tomorrow, October 13, 2024. The first wave of runners starts at 7:30 from Grant Park. Here's a route map.
not being a runner never stopped me from
believing in the possibility of something life changing happening tomorrow.
fuckin change your life
answer a question you've been carrying
see if you can brace yourself there
just try it out
little by little
if you haven’t cut your grasses or fall flowering plants back,
consider leaving the seeded blossoms for birds to eat
and make nests in through the winter
add purpose
create a new space to observe
little by little
we find these portal places
we find best friends and family.
as a solitary daughter,
with raucous snickering,
